| | Selbstdarstellung: | | ISTF is an open organization of people who are committed to furthering the mission of The Internet Society (ISOC). Our mission is “To assure the open development, evolution and use of the Internet for the benefit of all people throughout the world.” The Internet is having a social and economic impact around the world. Internet policy issues are becoming as important as technical ones. Within ISTF's scope is the opportunity to identify ways in which the Internet can be a positive force in social and economic dimensions. For example; aiding the further development of countries still in the early stages of economic evolution, spreading information and knowledge, dispelling myth and ignorance, creating opportunity where it can do the most good. ISOC and its members cannot solve all the problems of use and remove all the barriers to the spread of the Internet, but we can help those who can solve the problems to understand what solutions are possible and what barriers remain to be eliminated. The primary purpose of ISTF is to describe steps to assure that the Internet is for everyone. The ISTF will do its best to characterize and categorize social and economic issues associated with the growth and use of Internet. And we will identify and describe local, regional and global conditions that help or hinder the Internet’s availability and use. Our work is done online using discussion lists so as to reach the largest number of interested participants. Participation in ISTF is free and open to everyone. Your support for ISOC as a member is most welcome, but not required for you to participate in ISTF. |
