Dynasties and siblings in the coastal navigation (golf du Morbihan 18th century)
| Investigations on the organization of seagoing navigation (cabotage) have little discussed the issues of funding of ship and management
We look at dynasties owners of ship on several generations, but we don’t study simply a succession from father to son. In reality, they are siblings of boys who go to the management of coastal shipping, while their sisters are involved in matrimonial alliances with other families of ship-owners.
These family strategies are in the service of a social and economic strategy.
We study eight families among the most important with frequently siblings of Masters (and ship-owners), in each generation.
