From a Small State to a Kingdom: The Élites of Monferrato in the Savoy System of Honours. Titles, Fiefs and Historical Interpretations
I am going to show how local élites of small State of Monferrato, that belong to Mantua until 1708, could survive and renovate themselves into the Kingdom of Sardinia during the XVIII century. Marriages, charges, feudal accommodations and urban roles were the keys of their strategies.
