All days

The "good old days" when there were no homosexuals and sexual perverts among Afrikaans men
Up to at least the 1960s neither homosexuality nor sexual perversion was a topic for public discussion in "decent" Afrikaans circles. The paper investigates the silence about "deviant" sexuality in the Afrikaans culture. What were the reasons for it? What was the role of e.g. the Afrikaans churches, Christian-National education and Afrikaans hegemonic masculinity? When and why was this taboo eventually lifted? How has the situation changed over the last decades?
