The forest residual utilizations in the Mediterranean mountain: cork and wood
| The Mediterranean mountain, domineering in wide zones of the Iberian Peninsula, faces from the 70s of the XXth century a serious problem for the lack of integral management and for the loss of an economic function. After centuries of intense exploitation, at present only the wood and the cork (residual utilizations), as well as some emergent products (mushrooms and truffles) support the profitability of the forests, situation that ballasts the future of the forest spaces, which are clearly majority in the rural area.
