Looking for "consensus": the spread of social assurances into Galician rural world (1940 - 1975)
The aim of this paper is to show how the francoist dictatorship built into spanish rural wordl a system of social assurances (National Insurance system, retirement pensions,...), starting on the half of 40's. This system of social security wasn't based on the model of Welfare State, that they had been introduced by democratic States of West Europe since 1945, but on the construction of networks of personal (political, social, economical) dependence. We'll also focus on the rol played by social security as a central implement for dictatorship to obtain the "wished" consensus of rural populations.
