Inheritance system of Polish Peasants in the Late Middle Ages and Early Modern Period
This paper presents the author’s research on the economy of Polish peasants in the 15th and 16th centuries. The inheritance system is analysed on the basis of the books of village courts. Special attention is paid to inheritance system of peasants’ land and its influence on peasant land market in the period of transition of Polish economy from rent economy to the system of manorialism with compulsory labour. In this context is also examined the structure of ownership among peasants in different regions of Poland.
