Mapping the World of Women's Information Services The database Mapping the World of Women's Information Services is an online database of women's information centres and libraries that are open to the public. There is at least one center in almost every country in the world. The addresses, goals and subjects of all centres can be found. The database can be searched by name, country, subject, sort of organization and other key words. It also includes web site links. The database is updated weekly. More than 325 women's information centres from over 124 countries are in the database at the moment. You can search directly in the online database. What kind of centres are in the database? International, national and local women's information services Women's documentation and research centres connected to universities Gender-specific information sections connected to governmental organizations Resource centres In Focus 10 examples of women's information centres operating in Europe, Asia and the Pacific, North America, South and Central America, the Middle East and Africa are in the session in Focus. Read about women's art documentation centres, virtual documentation centres, lesbian archives and documentation and communication networks. You will read about the history, vision and focus of these centres and as well as the political and socio-economic environment in which they operate. Participate Is the Women's Information Center you work for not published in the Mapping the World database? You can participate by filling in the data of your centrer or institution on the online form. The Book The database was published in 1999 with the title: 'Women's information services and networks - a global sourcebook'. This book gives an overview of 167 women's information centres from 86 countries. You can order the book online at the Royal Tropical Institute in the Netherlands (KIT). The book costs NLG 35.00 (postage excluded).
