| | Selbstdarstellung: | | The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a data format for structured information interchange. Developed under auspices of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), we believe that XML will be the "lingua franca" of the WWW for Information brokering, Electronic business, and Electronic publishing. GMD-IPSI conducts active research on XML-based information systems. The current focus of our work in XML is on XML standard and XML architecture: style languages, APIs, linking, schema languages, query languages, Standard DTDs and XML applications. XML data management: storage, querying, data interchange, data integration and transformation. Application of XML in Electronic Commerce: electronic data interchange (EDI), virtual enterprises, electronic marketplaces, financial services. Application of XML for Digital Libraries: information filtering and retrieval, user interfaces, publishing. GMD-IPSI has a strong background in database technology, document management, web publishing, information retrieval, and graphical user interfaces. Based on our knowhow from this work, we provide technology consulting and research services in the area of XML. GMD is a member of W3C and hosts its German office. |
